DESCRIPTION FLOWERING OATS (Avena sativa) – Family: Poaceae Avena sativa has mild anti-depressive properties. It nourishes the nervous system during states of physical (convalescence) and mental exhaustion. Recommended for: severe fatigue, irritability, nervousness, chronic insomnia, hyperactivity, emaciation (hyperthyroid). This plant is both fortifying and tranquilizing. HOLY BASIL (Ocimum sanctum) – Family: Lamiaceae Ocimum sanctum has adaptogenic and anti-stress properties (it promotes resistance to stress). It regulates the axes (pituitary – adrenal – pancreas) and also the axis (sympathetic – adrenal system). It is a great tonic and regulator of the adrenal glands. This prevents excessive epinephrine and cortisol production while increasing the levels of dopamine and serotonin. It is a valuable plant for people suffering from burn-out, that are exhausted physically or mentally or suffering from long term fatigue. Holy basil is also useful for memory impairment and decreased concentration. It is also used as an antidepressant primarily in “stagnant depressions”. LEMON BALM (Melissa officinalis) – Family: Lamiaceae Excellent nerve tonic, Melissa officinalis has relaxant and antispasmodic properties. It calms the central nervous system, and eases cardiac palpitations from nervous origin. It is beneficial for anxiety, mild depression, nervousness, irritability, and hyper-excitability due to a thyroid dysfunction. SKULLCAP (Scutellaria officinalis) – Family: Lamiaceae Scutellaria officinalis is a great tonic for the nervous system. Its sedative effects (insomnia) are helpful during stress and anguish. It relaxes muscles during (PMS / dysmenorrhea). In the 19th century it was used for hysteria, rage, anger, convulsions and schizophrenia. Today, it is frequently used for nervous symptoms (tics/agitation) and hyperactivity. CALIFORNIA POPPY (Eschscholzia californica) – Family: Papaveraceae Normalizes mental and physical functions. Mild sedative, mild sleep aid, calming, decreases sleep latency and increases sleep duration. California poppy has an effect on serotonin levels due to its Protopine. Anxiolytic, reduces anxiety. Calms restless leg syndrome during sleep.
