History All cultivars of pelargonium are called Geranium Rose or Pelargonium of the Rose variety. Originally grown in South Africa, Geranium Rose is also known as scented pelargonium. The shrub can grow to 1.3 meters high with a spread of 1 meter wide. The foliage of the wild variety smells more or less minty yet gives rise to cultivars that smell strongly of rose hence Geranium Rose.
