Discovered by the Dutch in the Molucca Islands, aka The Spice Islands, the tree grows abundantly along the tropical sea coasts. Today, it is mostly grown in Madagascar. Its value recognized centuries ago, clove bud is used in traditional Indian and Chinese medicine.
