Green Lipped FFA is the stable free fatty acid extract of Perna canaliculus, the New Zealand green-lipped mussel. This compound contains a unique profile of omega-3 and other fatty acids not found in significant amounts in standard fish oil supplements. Studies show that this unique fatty acid extract with its physiological effects is more effective against inflammation than conventional fish oils.

Green Lipped FFA is fatty acid extract from the green lipped-mussel of New Zealand and it is has been studied for its benefits on osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. The extract has a unique array of omega-3 fatty acids and is high in rare omega-3s not found in fish oil extracts: eicosatetraenoic acid (ETA) and its precursor stearidonic acid (SDA). Not all green-lipped mussel extracts are fatty acid extracts. AOR’s Green Lipped FFA is a fatty acid extract, the most beneficial type of extract according to clinical studies.

Few people know that ETA and SDA are actually superior to other omega-3s at quenching the fires of inflammation such as in rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis patients, giving more potent anti-inflammatory benefits at significantly lower doses. They act in similar ways to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) but by multiple mechanisms of action and without the negative side effects. With this in mind, additional research has found that Green Lipped FFA can provide relief for bronchial inflammation, and animal studies have suggested that it may be beneficial in premenstrual syndrome (PMS). Still, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis patients will benefit most from Green Lipped FFA, and it is an excellent alternative to conventional fish oils for anyone supplementing with omega-3 fatty acids.
